The Foo Fighters are an Alternative Rock or Post-Grunge band that originated in Seattle Washington in 1994. It consists of 5 members, lead vocalist Dave Grohl, drummer Taylor Hawkins, bassist Nate Mendel, and guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett. They have released a total of 8 studio albums and have won a total of 11 Grammy's including 4 for Best Rock Album, as well as 3 for Best Hard Rock Performance. Excluding the Grammy's they have also won 3 Kerrang! Awards an MTV Best Rock Video he band performed at the 54th Grammy Awards playing "Walk" along with the remix version of "Rope", featuring deadmau5. The band was nominated for six Grammy Awards including Album of the Year, Best Rock Performance, Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album and Best Long Form Music Video. They won five out of the six, losing only to Adele in the Album of the Year category
