Born May 6t 1971 in Santa Barbara, California he learned to play the guitar at the age of 11 and would join his first band at 14. His first concert was Dio performing Holy Diver at the Arlington Theater. Early in his career a friend announced that Guns N' Roses was auditioning for a guitarist. Shiflett asked his friend to instead get him an audition for the Foo Fighters and after recording There Is Nothing Left to Lose as a trio held open auditions to hire another guitarist. A heavy influence for Grohl to hire Chris was the fact that he had actually opened for Grohl's former band Scream as a member of Rat Pack. After hired he would go on the There is Nothing Left to Lose tour and start recording in the studio starting with One by One. He had a fear of being fired before ever getting to play with the band after formere guitarist Pat Smear showed intrest in rejoining the band this would cause him to leave his band at the time No Use For a Name abbruptly. While Pat would rejoin both would stay on guitar to this day.

Born December 2, 1968 in Richland Washington, he grew up with heavy musical influences. First learning to play the violin Mendel started to gravitate towards the rock scene at the age of 13 joining his first band. One of his friends in the band suggested he try the bass guitar and Mendel said "as I picked up that bass guitar I went on a 20-year detour into punk". Having limited influences in his area he was mostly self-taught in which he took the mindset " Instead of studying the bass playing of someone like John Entwistle, which would have given me a foundation of how to play. I just wanted to play a lot of notes really fast." He would join the band Diddly Squat and would tour with them in the summer of 1988. After Diddly Squat ended he would move to Seattle and after a couple of other bands in 1992, Mendel and his University of Washington housemate Dan Hoerner decided to form a band, and invited drummer William Goldsmith to form the group that would end up being named Sunny Day Real Estate. Just prior to Sunny Day Real Estate he was invited to join the Foo Fighters by Dave Grohl in early 1994 in which he is still an active member. Only Nate, Dave, and Pat remain of the original line up.

David Eric Grohl is born in Warren Ohio until the age of 3 when he later moved to Virgina. While Living in Virigina his parents divorced at the tender age of 6 after which he lived with his mother and sister Lisa. This rough start was followed by a rebellious Grohl through highschool which he dropped out during junior year to pursue his band at the time Scream and smoking pot. He would appear on 3 of thier albums as well as went on tour multiple times with the band. While on tour he met the Melvin band where backstage he saw his future Nirvana band mates Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, he didn't talk to them that night but was given the chance to audition for Nirvana thanks to Buzz Ousbourne. He would be welcomed to the band with open arms and would be with the band until the unfortunate death of Kurt. He then moved on to the Foo Fighters whos first album consisted of mostly songs written by Grohl while he was still with Nirvana but felt Kurt growing distant. From here the band would go on to produce Album after Album gaining more momentum and success as they went. The band is still around today making music and finding their way to tops of charts.
